Jennifer Alvarado

Jesse Valenzuela

My name is Jennifer Alvarado, and I am the founder and administrator of Heartland Christian Academy. Teaching has never been just a profession for me—it is a calling that God placed on my heart many years ago.

My journey in education began in 2009 when I opened a childcare and preschool program in my home. Through the years, I have had the privilege of teaching and mentoring children at various stages of their educational journey. As I watched students grow academically, socially, and spiritually, God continued to deepen my passion for Christian education and His vision for a school that would partner with families in raising the next generation.

In addition to my work in education, I am actively involved in several ministries within my church and have a heart for serving others. These experiences have reinforced my belief that education should nurture the whole child—academically, spiritually, emotionally, and socially.

Heartland Christian Academy was founded from a desire to provide students with a Christ-centered learning environment where they are known, valued, and encouraged to reach their God-given potential. My goal is to help students develop a love for learning, strong biblical character, and a servant's heart while building meaningful relationships that will impact them for years to come.

It is a blessing and an honor to serve the families of Heartland Christian Academy and to be part of each student's educational and spiritual journey.

Danita Testerman

Hello, my name is Danita, and I am honored to serve as an Administrator and High School Instructor at Heartland Christian Academy.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and am a retired Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with more than 50 years of experience in financial accounting, regulatory reporting, and organizational management. Throughout my career, I worked in both the oil and gas and nonprofit sectors, focusing on team building, accountability, and creating efficient systems that support growth and success.

My faith has been the foundation of my life since my teenage years. Over the years, I have had the privilege of teaching and leading youth ministries within my church and community. I am passionate about encouraging young people to grow in their faith, develop strong character, and pursue excellence in all they do.

Family is one of my greatest blessings. I have a wonderful daughter, four amazing grandchildren, and a son-in-law who somehow manages to repair or reinstall anything I break! When I am not at school, you can often find me working in my garden. Gardening has become one of my favorite hobbies, and I hope to become a Master Gardener someday.

I am grateful to be part of the Heartland Christian Academy family and look forward to partnering with parents as we help students grow academically, spiritually, and personally. My desire is to encourage each student to develop the knowledge, character, and faith needed to make a positive impact for Christ.

Deanna Hicks

Hello! I'm Deanna Hicks, the Junior High and High School English Composition teacher at Heartland Christian Academy.

Writing has always been one of my greatest passions. I love the way stories, words, and ideas can inspire, encourage, and connect people. As a writer, speaker, and educator with more than ten years of teaching experience, I have developed educational programs and created two accredited courses focused on communication and student learning.

I am passionate about helping students grow in confidence, think critically, communicate effectively, and discover their unique voice. I believe every student has a story worth telling, and I strive to create a classroom environment where students feel encouraged to express themselves and develop their God-given talents.

My goal is to foster a love of reading and writing while equipping students with the skills they need for academic success, personal growth, and a strong foundation of faith. I am honored to be part of the Heartland Christian Academy family and look forward to helping students grow as confident communicators, lifelong learners, and faithful followers of Christ.
